The toroid as the shape of inevitability

A pressurized medium that must keep moving and cannot escape curls into a loop. RSI holds that this is why the universe is a torus.

A field under constant internal tension raises a question. How can it go on forever without tearing itself apart?

RSI's answer is that moving energy always seeks the path of least resistance. For a continuous fluid under pressure, that path is a circulation that curves back on itself: flowing out from a center, curving around, and returning to where it began. That shape is a torus.

The narrative points to a familiar example. When a great burst of energy is released into the atmosphere, the rising column of hot air does not simply rise and scatter. Its top mushrooms outward and folds back down around the outside while fresh air is drawn up through the center. The mushroom cloud is a torus. The air had no choice. It is what pressurized fluid does when it must keep moving and cannot escape.

The Eternal Consonance faces the same constraint at cosmic scale. Its tension will not allow it to stand still, and it cannot expand forever, because there is nothing outside it to expand into. So it circulates within itself. The exhale moves outward from a central region, curves around, and the inhale returns toward the center. "The universe is a toroid not because someone chose that shape for it but because no other shape is available to a continuous fluid that must keep moving and must stay whole."
