Short explanations, Chapter VII

The Axis of Evil

RSI interprets the puzzling alignment of the CMB's largest patterns as the thermal signature of the universe's toroidal shape.

The "Axis of Evil" is a puzzle in modern cosmology. The CMB's largest patterns, called the quadrupole and octupole, line up with each other and with the ecliptic and the CMB dipole. Standard models assume a uniform, isotropic expansion and cannot explain this without extra steps. The chance of such an alignment arising at random has been estimated at less than one in a thousand.

RSI holds that the alignment is the expected signature of the Universal Toroidal Circuit. The CMB is the steady baseline heat of the Eternal Consonance. Its lowest modes are standing-wave residuals of the medium's own toroidal shape. A toroid has a preferred axis, and its medium has a thermal gradient between the Exhale and Inhale directions. The lowest tones of a vibrating chamber reflect its shape in the same way.

RSI predicts a warm pole toward the Still Core and a cool pole toward the Outer Rim.
